TRUE SONS
Creative Marketing, Brand Strategy & Relaunch

When I joined True Sons as Creative Marketing Manager, the brand was preparing for a major relaunch following a product formula change. This was much bigger than introducing updated products. The brand needed to rethink how it positioned itself, how it communicated the changes, and how customers would experience True Sons across its digital channels.
I developed the relaunch strategy from the ground up, including a new brand guide, a comprehensive relaunch marketing plan, a redesigned Amazon storefront, launch communications, customer segmentation, and the creative direction for the new product line. I was essentially looking at the entire customer journey and asking what needed to change for the new True Sons to feel like a cohesive, intentional brand rather than simply a collection of reformulated products.
How Do You Relaunch a Brand After Changing Its Product Formula?

A formula change can completely change the story a brand needs to tell. The products may be familiar to existing customers, but the reasons to choose them, the benefits they offer, and the way the brand wants to position itself can all evolve. For True Sons, I approached the relaunch as an opportunity to establish a stronger foundation for the brand. Before developing individual marketing pieces, I worked through the larger questions around positioning, messaging, customer perception, and the overall experience we wanted people to have with the new True Sons.
The goal was to make the relaunch feel on point from the first impression. Every piece of marketing needed to support the same larger story.
How Do You Build a Brand Guide for a Product Relaunch?
One of the foundational pieces I created was a new True Sons brand guide.
The guide established the strategic and creative direction for the updated brand and gave the relaunch a framework that could be carried across different marketing channels. Rather than having each new asset developed independently, the brand guide created a common reference point for how True Sons should look, sound, and communicate.
This was particularly important because the relaunch touched so many different customer-facing experiences. The brand needed to be recognizable whether someone discovered it through Amazon, encountered a launch email, visited the website, or came across the new products through digital marketing.

How Do You Create a Relaunch Marketing Plan?

The relaunch required more than a launch date and a collection of promotional assets. I developed a marketing plan that considered the different audiences True Sons needed to reach and the different stages of the customer relationship.
There were existing True Sons customers who already knew the brand. There were customers who might have purchased in the past but could potentially move away from the brand during the transition. And there were people who were completely new to True Sons and needed to understand the brand from the beginning.
Those groups could not all be approached in exactly the same way. The relaunch strategy therefore considered what each audience needed to hear, when they needed to hear it, and how the new product story could move them from awareness to interest and ultimately to purchase.
How Do You Market a Relaunch to Different Customer Segments?
One of the most important parts of the launch communication was recognizing that not every customer was starting from the same place. For existing True Sons customers, the messaging needed to acknowledge the relationship they already had with the brand while introducing them to the updated products.
For customers who might leave, the communication needed to address the transition in a way that gave them a reason to reconsider True Sons rather than simply assuming loyalty would carry over automatically. And for people who were new to the brand, there was no existing relationship to rely on. They needed a clear introduction to who True Sons was, what made the products different, and why the new line was worth paying attention to.
I designed the launch email sequence around those distinct audiences so the communication could be more relevant to where each customer was in their relationship with the brand.
How Do You Rebuild an Amazon Storefront During a Brand Relaunch?

Amazon was another major part of the relaunch because it is often the first place a customer encounters a product without knowing anything about the brand behind it.
I recreated the True Sons Amazon storefront as part of the new brand direction, considering how the products should be organized and presented and how the storefront could communicate the larger brand story.
Amazon requires a different approach from a branded website. Customers are already in a shopping environment, often comparing products side by side, so the storefront needs to communicate quickly while still giving the brand enough personality and context to stand apart. The new storefront was designed to bring the updated True Sons identity into that environment and create a more cohesive experience for customers discovering the brand on Amazon.
How Do You Create Product Marketing Before the Products Exist?
One of the more unusual challenges of this project was that the new bottles had not even been manufactured when we needed to start creating the marketing. Waiting for physical products would have pushed the entire creative process back, so I found another solution.
I created AI-generated product imagery that allowed us to visualize the new packaging and begin developing marketing materials before the physical bottles were available. This gave us the ability to build out the creative direction, plan campaigns, and develop launch assets while production was still underway.
It was a practical creative solution to a very real marketing problem: sometimes the marketing timeline cannot wait for the manufacturing timeline. The imagery also allowed me to explore how the new products could be presented visually and make sure the creative direction supported the larger brand strategy before everything went into production.
How Do You Create a Cohesive Digital Experience During a Rebrand?

A relaunch can easily become fragmented when different assets are created at different times for different platforms. That was something I wanted to avoid with True Sons. The new brand guide established the foundation. The relaunch marketing plan established the strategy. The email sequence addressed different customer groups. The Amazon storefront translated the new positioning into a marketplace environment. The creative assets gave the new products a visual identity.
Each piece had its own purpose, but they were all connected to the same larger brand direction. That connection is what turns a collection of marketing materials into a brand experience.
What Was My Role as Creative Marketing Manager for True Sons?

My role brought together creative marketing, brand strategy, customer segmentation, e-commerce, Amazon, campaign development, and creative production. I developed the new brand guide, created the relaunch marketing plan, rebuilt the Amazon storefront, designed the launch email strategy around distinct customer audiences, developed the creative direction, and created AI-generated product imagery to support the campaign before the physical packaging was available.
I was also thinking about the customer journey throughout the process. What would an existing customer think when they saw the new products? What would make someone who was considering leaving give the brand another chance? What would a completely new customer need to understand? And how should all of those answers influence the way True Sons presented itself? Those questions shaped the strategy behind the work.
What Does a Successful Brand Relaunch Actually Require?

A successful relaunch isn't just a new bottle, a new logo, or a new campaign. It requires a reason for the brand to evolve and a strategy for communicating that evolution to the people who matter. True Sons gave me the opportunity to work across that entire process. I helped establish the new brand direction, built the strategic framework for the relaunch, created the customer communication strategy, rebuilt a major e-commerce touchpoint, and solved creative production challenges before the physical products were even available.
The result was a relaunch strategy designed to make the new True Sons feel like a deliberate evolution rather than simply a product update.
That's the kind of creative marketing work I enjoy most: taking a business challenge, figuring out what the customer needs to understand, and then building the strategy and creative pieces that bring those two things together.
